Fuerteventura & Caleta de Fuste - A Great Place To Be
For both married couples and families alike, Caleta de Fuste is a popular holiday destination and provides a wide range of activities to entertain all age groups.
Caleta de Fuste
Intentionally designed with families and children in mind, Caleta de Fuste is conveniently situated only 10 mins from the airport and features a large, man-made beach that is a safe haven for going swimming and sun bathing. The harbour provides a wide range of aquatic sports such as jet skiing, scuba diving and a variety of boat trips. The notorious ‘floating shop’ can be found here where children can feed the fish and buy a holiday souvenir or two.
Caleta de Fuste
The main town of Caleta de Fuste, or El Castillo as it's widely known, is relatively flat with a background of Chipmonk Mountain housing self catering apartments and villas. Bars and restaurants are situated on the main street or in one of the two shopping centres. Food ranges from Portuguese, Spanish, Mexican, French and English and then there are fast food restaurants offering take aways until the early hours of the morning.
Bars remain open until about three or four in the morning depending on the time of year and many provide nightly entertainment like live bands and shows. If you want a late drink or fancy a dance then there are a few nightclubs that generally stay open until 6 or 7 in the morning.
Since the resort was designed with both familes and children in mind you will also find a number of play parks over the resort to entertain all age ranges. Bouncy castles and other activities are normally found in the nearby ‘Atlantico’ shopping centre and trampolines, mini golf and archery in the main town. So a great deal to do for the kids!
The local market is held on ‘Chipmonk Mountain’ on a Saturday morning between nine and one providing a variety of cut priced items such as handbags, glasses and clothing and is always popular with both locals and tourists alike.
Although there is a number of hotels, the most popular being the ‘Barcelo’ near the beach’ almost all of the holiday accommodation is self catering. Golf course villa’s can also be found to rent on the newly built Golf Course just on the outskirts of the resort and make a great holiday home specifically for families and golfers.
As all holiday attractions, like the Zoo and newly built water park, are within an hours drive of the resort, Caleta de Fuste makes a great base for a holiday and is becoming more and more popular every year and with cheap flights from most Countries in europe will continue to be a popular winter and summer holiday destination.
